TXST8tj. 1951 posts · Joined 2007. #2 · Jan 23, 2007. a 12.5" wide tire is ok on a stock/7" wheel....it's not the best, but the real issue is the backspacing of stock wheels. a 12.5" tire on the stock rims will rub badly. you would need wheel spacers to run that setup, and you can sometimes run new wheels for the cost of spacers.I am looking at changing my 305/70/18's to 37" tires and have been looking at a number of tires including Toyos and Nittos. I have 18" wheels and with that only leaves me with 13.5" wide Toyos while Nitto has the 12.5" wide tires available.
